Refried Beans

Beans are an ideal accompaniment to any Mexican meal, especially if they are refried beans which can be served as a side dish or served as a dip for tortilla chips.

  • 3 cups cooked black beans
  • 3 cups bean cooking liquid or water
  • 1 tsp. Knorr® Beef flavor Bouillon or Knorr® Beef flavor Bouillon Cube, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup oil or lard
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. grated queso fresco
  • Tortilla chips (optional)

  1. Put beans, bean liquid or water and Knorr® Beef flavor Bouillon in food processor and process until smooth. .

  2. Heat oil in medium pot over medium heat and cook onion, stirring occasionally until golden.

  3. Add bean mixture and cook over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking, until thickened.

  4. Serve topped with queso fresco and garnish with tortilla chips if desired.
