  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) olive oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) minced jalapeno pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) minced garlic,
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) minced fresh ginger
  • 4 tsp. (20 mL) Knorr® Taste of India Concentrated Bouillon
  • 2 cans (398 mL ea.) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (398 mL) low sodium tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) water
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) chopped fresh cilantro

Chana Masala
  1. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and cook onion and jalapeno, stirring occasionally, until onion is golden, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

  2. Stir in Knorr® Taste of India Concentrated Bouillon, then chickpeas. Cook, stirring frequently, 3 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer stirring occasionally, for flavors to develop, about 10 minutes. Stir in cilantro. Garnish with chopped onion and sliced tomato and serve with basmati rice or naan if desired.
