  • 3 Tbsp. (45 mL) olive oil
  • 1 tsp. (5 mL) grated fresh ginger
  • 1 large clove garlic, finely chopped (about 1 tsp./5 mL)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. (7 mL) Knorr® Garam Masala Seasoning Blend
  • 1 can (540 mL) no-salt added chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup (250 mL) dried red lentils, rinsed and drained
  • 4 cups (1 L) water
  • 2 Tbsp. (30 mL) Knorr® Taste of India Concentrated Bouillon
  • 1 Tbsp. (15 mL) fresh lemon juice

  1. Heat olive oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic; cook, stirring 10 seconds. Add Knorr® Garam Masala Seasoning Blend and cook another 10 seconds.

  2. Stir in chickpeas and stir to coat with spices. Stir in lentils, water and Knorr® Taste of India Concentrated Bouillon and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until lentils are softened and broken down, about 20 minutes,

  3. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Serve, if desired, with chopped fresh cilantro and a dollop of yogurt.
