HOW CAN WE SHARE 1.5 MILLION MEALS ON WORLD FOOD DAY?
Did you know that, each day, 3.5 million photos of food are posted, liked and shared around the world? That’s an online food conversation totalling 1.2 billion posts in the space of a year. Unfortunately, we are sharing food so that it can be admired, not eaten.
The World Food Programme (WFP) tells us that the latest figures show that 815 million people - or one in nine of the global population – still go to bed hungry. If we just replaced one in nine of our food photos this week globally with a donation of a meal – just 20 Euro cents – over 2 million more people would be fed this week alone.
As one of the world’s largest food brands, we want to try and change these statistics for the better. That’s why this World Food Day we are giving food lovers the opportunity to turn a food post into a real meal for someone in need. On 16th October, each time our #ShareTheMeal post is shared or retweeted on Facebook and Twitter, we will donate the equivalent of one meal to WFP, up to a total of 1.5 million meals. You can also download WFP’s ShareTheMeal app which enables them to take a food photo and instantly donate as little as 40 Euro cents, enough to feed a child for a day, with a simple tap on your smartphone.
Our donations will give people in need cash to buy their own food with dignity and freedom, using WFP’s cash based transfer scheme.
How our World Food Day 2017 campaign works:

• You can also add your own donation by using the World Food Programme’s SharetheMeal app which is available to download here on IOS and Android platforms
• Knorr will donate up to 1.5 million meals
• Knorr’s donations will go to the World Food Programme’s cash based transfer scheme
