  • For the fish fillet:
  • 1 kg. Cream Dory fillet, cut into serving pcs.
  • salt and pepper to season
  • As needed flour
  • As needed beaten eggs
  • As needed breadcrumbs
  • canola oil for deep-frying
  • For the sauce:
  • 3 tbsp onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
  • 6 pcs. native tomatoes, diced
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, roughly chopped
  • 2 cup all purpose cream
  • 33 g 33g (1 pack) Knorr Ginataang Gulay Complete Recipe Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese

  1. Begin by preparing 3 shallow pans for your egg, flour and breadcrumbs mixtures. Before coating the fish, season it well with salt and pepper. Dust the fish with flour then dip it in the beaten egg. Next, dredge the fish in breadcrumbs and transfer to a food grade container so you can set this aside in the chiller to allow the coating to set firm.

  2. While the fish is in the chiller, get a pan and make it nice and hot over medium high heat. Pour some oil and throw in the onion, garlic and tomatoes. Cook them until the vegetables give off a nice aroma. Add the basil next and stir well before seasoning it with more salt and pepper. Set this aside for your topping. This is what you call a sofrito – a mixture of sautéed chopped aromatics (onion, garlic and tomatoes).

  3. Next, mix Knorr Ginataang Gulay Complete Recipe Mix and water and just bring this to a boil before letting it simmer. When the sauce is thick, stir in the cream followed by the cheese. Stir well until cheese is melted.

  4. Now that the sauce is ready, start deep frying the fish fillet in hot oil until brown and crisp. Remove and just allow the fish to drain over a plate lined with paper towels to blot off excess oil.

  5. Pour the cream sauce first on a platter then gently place the breaded fish at the center then top it with the sofrito last. When your family sees the effort you placed into this dish, they will truly adore you for it!
