BRAISED CHICKEN WITH CHESTNUTS

For those looking for braised dishes, this is a good start. For freshly cooked chestnuts, try cutting the edges of the chestnuts and boil for 5 minutes. This will make it easier to remove the shells before braising.

  • 1 (0.9 kg) whole chicken
  • 230 g packaged chestnut
  • 1 stalk coriander

SAUCE:

  • 1 tbsp cooking wine
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp Knorr Hao Chi Seasoning
  • 40 ml water

MARINADE:

  • 3 stalks of green onion (cut into 2 inch pieces)
  • 2 thin slices of ginger
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Knorr Hao Chi Seasoning

  1. Cut the chicken into pieces, add marinade and set aside for 10 minutes.

  2. In the meantime, heat oil in a wok, then stir fry the chicken for 5 minutes or until brown.

  3. Add in wine, sugar and KNORR HAO CHI ALL-IN-ONE SEASONING. Cook on high heat and bring to boil.

  4. Reduce the heat and braise for 15 minutes or until left with 1/2 cup liquid.

  5. Add in chestnut.

  6. Stir in cornstarch solution to thicken the sauce.

  7. Garnish with coriander.
