Easy Cheesy: 6-Ingredient Creamy Homemade Mac and Cheese

In movies and tv shows, Mac and Cheese is the quintessential meal American kids go for when they are home alone and hungry. Not to say that adults do not reach for this easy-to-prepare meal either – because they do!

A traditional Mac and Cheese recipe is made up of elbow macaroni, cheese, and milk.

Given how minimal the ingredient list is for making this pasta dish, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be made from scratch. It’s healthier, and many of the items needed to make a pot are readily available in your kitchen pantry. If you love a creamy pasta dish but don’t have the time to make the Baked Caldereta version, check out our easy recipe below to get your fix

Mac and Cheese Ingredients:

A box of Knorr Pork Broth Cubes

  • 400 g. elbow macaroni, cooked al dente
  • 4 cups fresh milk
  • 2 pcs Knorr Pork Cube
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Optional: 1 cup frozen or fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup melting cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup bacon, cooked and chopped (optional)

Step 1 :

This is a no-fuss dish that you can cook any time of the day. In a medium pot, bring fresh milk and Knorr Pork Cubes to a simmer until the cubes are fully dissolved; then, remove from heat

Step 2:

In a separate pan, melt butter, and sauté spinach (optional). Gently add the flour, gradually mixing and stirring them until the flour becomes slightly brown and has that nutty aroma.

Step 3

Slowly add the milk mixture into the flour mixture while mixing well over medium heat. Throw in the cheese and stir until it melts and the sauce is thick and smooth.

Step 4

Now comes the exciting part, let's add the cooked macaroni to the cheese mixture, and that's our dish!

Step 5:

See the reaction on your family’s faces when you serve Mac and Cheese. Amp up the excitement by topping your dish with especially crispy bacon bits. You better get ready for a giant group hug because they will surely see you as the hero of the day.

It is a versatile pasta dish that should be included in your weekly menu or as a new addition to your next  Noche Buena feast, aside from macaroni salad. This umami-filled pasta creation is also filling enough to be eaten on its own. It also works great as a side with a main protein or a salad to balance it out.

Because cheese, and pasta can be paired with many other food items, a Mac and Cheese recipe can be tweaked easily. Want something decadent? How about ditching the cheddar for some stinky bleu? Make it extra bougie by serving it with some lobster, or use it as a sneaky vessel for feeding picky kids their veggies like what we did by adding spinach. However, you want to change it up, a no-bake Mac and Cheese recipe like ours is worth saving in your favorite's folder.
