A bowl of Bulalo with corn, green beans, potatoes, cabbage, and beef shanks

A Classic Beef Bulalo Recipe to Comfort You Any Day

There’s nothing better than enjoying a hot bowl of soup packed with beefy, healthy goodness.  But the star of this Beef Bulalo recipe is the meaty beef shanks filled with bone marrow. This is the main difference between Bulalo and Nilaga, as the latter uses any kind of meat — not limited to beef.

Aside from the unmatched taste, Beef Bulalo is considered a healthy dish. Bone marrow is rich in collage, which can help you maintain skin, bone, and joint health. Since we’re using thick beef shanks that contain less fat content than other cuts of beef, it’s essential to tenderize it by simmering the beef for at least an hour. Although it can take hours to make it, the result makes it all worth it.

You may find most of Bulalo ingredients stocked in your pantry. It’s a relatively easy and simple recipe that only has 4 steps. Keep reading to learn more on how to cook Bulalo at home.
