However, many of society’s most vulnerable struggle to even put food on the table.
Food poverty is defined as experiencing hunger, the inability to secure enough food of sufficient quality and quantity to enable good health and participation in society, and cutting down on food due to financial necessity. For those that are experiencing food poverty a lack of flavour is an everyday occurrence.
Knorr’s recent ‘Food Not Fuel’ report revealed that 80% of those who experienced a lack of flavour for a week were less positive in their thoughts and attitudes, 70% noted their energy levels and ability to concentrate reduced significantly and all the participants felt socially isolated – all psychological impacts that those who are food insecure struggle with daily.
As one of the world’s biggest food brands, we believe we have a responsibility to help bring positive change to people’s lives. Through the Flavour For All project Knorr wants to help more people who are experiencing food poverty access these all important flavoursome, nutritious meals by providing donations and workshops to soup kitchens and food banks across the UK.
Using our expertise in food and flavour, Knorr will be providing monetary support and helping to upskill volunteers and guests through cooking classes that focus on how to create nutritious flavoursome meals that both save money and waste less.
