Shelter from the Storm

Shelter from the Storm is a completely free emergency night shelter providing bed, dinner and breakfast for up to 44 homeless people every night of the year. With amazing skill, experience and love, they pick up the pieces from the human fallout; they’ll find them a doctor, a counsellor, a lawyer, training, a job. Each evening they sit down to eat together; a simple ritual for most of us, but for many of them it will be the first time they’ve done that since they left home. Shelter from the Storm started with one night in a church hall and now they care for up to 44 men and women every night, 365 days a year.

St George’s Crypt

St George's Crypt is a Christian charity. They have been providing care and support to homeless and vulnerable adults in Leeds since 1930. They offer a range of services for the most vulnerable, from giving basic food and shelter, to giving confidence building & skills training that allows people to begin to support themselves again and integrate back into society.

The People’s Kitchen

The People’s Kitchen has been supporting the homeless and disadvantaged in the Newcastle area since 1985. Their mission is to seek to offer high quality and relevant services for existing and new clients (our Friends) – 46% of whom have no friends or family to support them – and to develop and deepen those services to help move people towards independent living. Their ‘Your Futures’ programme aims to go one step further, working in conjunction with other welfare agencies for our service users’ benefit and to signpost client services available from other providers.
