Beef Shawerma

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ¼ tsp Cumin
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom
  • ¼ tsp Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Black Pepper
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric

Tahini Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Tahini
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Garlic Clove Crushed
  • Salt

12 Pita Bread

Fillings:

  • 2-3 Tomatoes (Sliced)
  • 2 Onions (Sliced thinly)
  • Sumac
  • Pomegranate Molasses
  • Parsley
  • Step 1
    Freeze your steaks for an hour or two to firm up before slicing.
  • Step 2
    With a sharp knife, thinly slice your steaks across the grain to thin slices and transfer to a bowl and let it sit to defrost for 20 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add vinegar, yogurt, all mentioned spices, 1 pack Knorr Beef Flavored Stock Powder, and oil, and mix well till all ingredients coat the thin strips of meat.
  • Step 4
    Cover and marinate for at least 1 hour to 24 hours in the fridge.
  • Step 5
    For Tahini Sauce, in a bowl, add tahini, yogurt, vinegar, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt and whisk till incorporated and smooth.
  • Step 6
    In a nonstick pan, add a touch of oil and stir fry your shawarma in batches 3-5 minutes till the edges are crispy.
  • Step 7
    Build your sandwich in a piece of pita bread, add tomatoes, pickled onions, sumac, tahini sauce, parsley, and a drizzle of pomegranate molasses. Wrap your sandwich and enjoy.
